Brandy and cognac

Article Abstract:

The United Kingdom market for cognac and grape brandy fell 2% in 1993 to 20.5 million litres, while the total spirits market grew 2% by real value and almost 2% by volume to 220.5 million litres. The spirits market is expected to rise 12% by value to 6.3 billion pounds sterling by 1998, while remaining stable by volume at about 221 million litres. Volume sales growth to 1993 is partly attributable to price cutting, although growth has generally been restricted by increased alcohol imports following the introduction of the single European market. The market is examined in detail.
