Golden years: half a century of Brick Bulletin

Article Abstract:

The early issues of Brick Bulletin, which was launched by the UK National Federation of Clay Industries in 1947, inevitably focused on brick buildings which had been constructed before the second world war, as no bricks were produced during the war. In the 1950s, Brick Bulletin placed strong emphasis on the ability of the brick industry to meet demand created by the development of new housing estates and new towns. The history of Brick Bulletin reflects the fact that brick can make a significant contribution even in an age of rapid technological development.
