SRF's OUTLOOK REMAINS CLOUDY

Article Abstract:

SRF, a manufacturer of nylon tyre cord, has been adversely affected by cheaper imports from south-east Asia and reduced demand from the automotive tyre segment. The company increased its profits by Rs17 crore in 1997-98, mainly due to a change in accounting related to depreciation and deferred revenue expenditure write-off. It has given a commitment to the government that it will earn up to $38 million from exports through its export oriented unit. (khr)
