C.E.O. bonuses rose 46.4 percent at 100 big firms in 2004

Chief Executive Officers bonuses are up by 46.4 percent to a median of $1.14 million, this is the largest percentage increase and highest level in the past 5 years. There is rising criticism of what some see as excessive compensation, particularly in cases where the companies performance doesn't keep pace.
