CKD under the state roof
Article Abstract:
CKD Praha Holding (CKDPH) (Prague, Czech Republic), engineering company, will be acquired by the state. The state will acquire a 80% stake in the firm by the capitalisation of receivables through the National Property Fund of the Czech Republic and the state bank Konsolidacni banka (Prague, Czech Republic). The stakes of the firm's hitherto shareholders Inpro (Prague, Czech Republic) and Deutsche Boerse will decrease from 38% and 33% to a minimum, respectively. According to a decision of a general assembly, CKDPH will be cleared of debts by stock decrease. The firm's stock will decrease from 4.737 bil Kc to one tenth. Then, CKDPH's stock will increase by at least 5 bil Kc to the maximum level of its debts, which are about 11 bil Kc. Shortly the number of the firm's production sectors should decrease from the current five to two, railway car production and investment engineering. The firm's subsidiaries, which are not involved in the sectors, should be sold or will become bankrupt.

The 2001 state budget is agreed
Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: The state budget for 2001, which was agreed by the parliament without problems in Dec 2000, counts on a deficit of CEK 48.98 bil. The state budget's incomes should be CEK 636.2 bil and its expenditures CEK 685.18 bil in 2001. The budget also includes the loss of the state bank Konsolidacni banka (Czech Republic), which is CEK 20 bil.

The 2001 budget
Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: The proposal of the state budget for 2001 counts on incomes of CEK 636.2 bil, expenditures of CEK 685.18 bil and a deficit of CEK 48.98 bil. If the budget does not include state assets, it has incomes of CEK 630.7 bil, expenditures of CEK 650.7 bil and a deficit of CEK 20 bil. The budget proposal has been agreed by the parliament.
