Campbell Soup profit falls but sales beat expectations

Campbell Soup Co. posted a rise of 16% in its profits for the fiscal first-quarter ending October 28, 2001. The company posted $171 million in net income for the period. Campbell's sales also improved in the quarter, by 9.4% to $1.73 billion.
