Canada Law Books market for trade mags

Article Abstract:

Canada Law Book Inc, a trade magazine publisher based in Aurora, Ontario, has revealed its plans to have 20 to 25 magazines in its publication roster by 2003 or 2005. David Ritter, the company's group publisher, hopes to acquire some of the former Southam publications purchased by CanWest Global Communications of Winnipeg. Magazines already produced by the company include `Canadian Lawyer,' `Law Times' and `Workplace News.'

The missing consumer ads

Article Abstract:

Most consumer product manufacturers refuse to run their advertising campaigns in Canadian trade magazines because they believe that this type of magazine has a much smaller readership compared to most consumer magazines. They, however, fail to realize that importance of the market of trade magazines, which is maybe a very narrow and vertical target but nevertheless, composed of key people that should be reached.

Adbusters

Article Abstract:

Adbusters, a Vancouver, British Columbia-based anti-advertising magazine, announced that it is increasing its circulation in the US, UK and Australia. The company expects to hit the 100,000 mark by early 2001. To support the increase in circulation, Adbusters has entered an agreement with Curtis Circulation of New Milford, NJ, to be able to sell the magazine in 7-Eleven and Wal-Mart stores.
