General Mills Canada Inc's giveaway of six Hasbro Interactive games is being praised as a brilliant idea by advertising executives and industry observers. According to Tony Chapman, president of Toronto-based Capital C and chair of Marketing 2000 Canadian Promo! Awards, the giveaway is the best promotion he has ever seen in cereal. Also, grocers were pleased with the promotion as shoppers tried to collect all six CD-ROM computer games that include Monopoly Junior and Clue in Cheerios and other company cereals.

Outdoor on call

Article Abstract:

Outdoor ads are a natural vehicle for mobile phone marketers. Mobile phone users are typically people on the go and spend much of their time out of their homes. Billboards also allow cellular companies to emerge from the clutter that besets other media such as radio and television. Marketers say an effective outdoor campaign should be very simple as the ad space and the attention span of consumers are much more limited than in other media.
