Chinook HC3 deliveries underway

Article Abstract:

Boeing Chinook HC Mk.3 deliveries to the Royal Air Force will finally start with the first two aircraft to be shipped to the UK in Jan 2002 for service rials at the Defence Research Agency. The two aircraft is part of an order made by the UK government in 1995, for eight Chinook HC Mk.3 for Special Forces operation. The first aircraft first flew in Oct 1998 but deliveries were delayed following avionics integration problems.

Austria selects BlackHawk

Article Abstract:

Austria's Ministry of Defence has chosen the Sikorsky S-70A Black Hawk over the rival Eurocopter Cougar helicopter for its utility transport and search and rescue requirement. Of the nine aircraft to be purchased, the first two are likely to be delivered early in 2001. The rest will follow by the middle of 2002. The sale includes an option for three additonal helicopters plus training and customer suport.

Indian Hind upgrade

Article Abstract:

The Israel Aircraft Industries will supply the Indian Air Force with its night-capable Helicopter Multimission Optronic Stabilised Payload (HMOSP) system. The order is in line with the air force's modification program for its fleet of some 60 Mil Mi-25/Mi-35 Hind attack helicopters. Israel Aircraft indusatires' Taman's division equipped two Mi-25s with HMOSP in 2000, with testing commencing in Sep 2000.
