Article Abstract:
AEA Technology is developing a method to remove particles from diesel exhaust gases. Siesel engines produce less carbon dioxide than do gasoline engines, but they pollute more in terms of particles released. The projects involves 'non-thermal plasma technology' with an alternator system to reduce the amount of power needed. The alternator increases carbon dioxide emissions but fuel efficiency is increased to the extent that emissions fall overall.
