A Connecticut court will hear a case claiming that Hartford, CT, students are discriminated against because their inner-city schools do not provide the same education as schools in the West Hartford suburb. Federal courts have ruled segregation caused by economic forces is not unconstitutional.

Sorry: desegregation 40 years on

Article Abstract:

The celebration of the 40th anniversary of desegregation in Arkansas is viewed by some as hypocritical. The media and public events related to the celebration lack the concern of comparing how black and white relations are today, and how they have not moved far enough toward racial harmony.

Article Abstract:

The US Supreme Court recently ruled that Mississippi's universities must integrate more than they have, but this means the state's all-Black public colleges will be closed. The suit, filed in 1975, was seeking more Black admissions to 'white' schools.
