Comparison of some AI and statistical classification methods for a marketing case

Article Abstract:

The design of a decision support system combining aspects of artificial intelligence and statistical classification methods is described. The design showed the superiority of the system in aiding marketing decision. The effectivity was brought about by the artificial intelligence (AI), which mimicked actual decision making behavior with its rule induction capability. Such an ability is enhanced by the statistical classification method which allows a basis for the AI to resolve patterns.

Knowledge acquisition issues in the design of decision support systems in quality control

Article Abstract:

The design of decision support systems in quality control can be enhanced by structured knowledge acquisition that entails the observation and the ordering of the skills and knowlege of the operators in the quality system being analyzed. This could be effectively done by using elicitation techniques such as verbal protocol analysis and structured interviews. The results of the analysis and interviews could then be modelled using object-oriented formalism and rules.

Supporting a complex audit judgment task: an expert network approach

Article Abstract:

The design of an expert network for use in effective control risk assessment in audits was made more effective by incorporating aspects of expert systems (ES) and neural networks (NN) into the expert network. The use of the ES and NN paradigm into the expert network incorporates both a deductive and inductive aspect into the network that is based on a logic driven data collection procedure.
