Court backs EU on blocked GE deal

Article Abstract:

The European Court of First Instance rejected an appeal by General Electric Co. and Honeywell International Inc. to have their merger of $43 billion approved. Regulators upheld the 2001 verdict that the merger of the two electronic equipment companies would be a violation of European antitrust law. Overall there is a shift in Brussels to more business positive policies.

Mastercard could lose role in setting bank fees in the E.U

Article Abstract:

MasterCard International Inc. of the United States is under investigation by the European Commission for the practice of setting Intercharge fees. The investigation could cause the credit card company to end its role in setting bank fees in the European Union.
