DANMARK: UNPOPULAR FIFTH LICENCE

Article Abstract:

A proposal from Birte Weiss, the Danish Ministry of Research, suggests offering five UMTS licenses instead of four. Dansk Industi, the federation of Danish industries, is criticizing the proposal. The director of Dansk Industi, Tom Togsverd, says that building UMTS-networks will become more expensive if there is another player on the market. The players will have to cut down the capacity and that is why more masts have to be built. In the end this will result in higher costs for customer than if there were only four operators, according to Togsverd.
