DEGW lets the nomads roam around its office

Article Abstract:

Architectural firm DEGW is linking with Richard Rogers Partnership to restructure its offices in Hammersmith, London, England. It has made an extensive study of the requirements of its employees, paying particular attention to the time they spend in the office. It is shifting away from a rigid approach to office organization, and is looking to create a more relaxed, open environment. This approach is already proving successful at its 1,000 sq mt office in central London, England, where a 450,000 pounds sterling reorganization has been undertaken.

Mark Fisher, arts minister, is intending to help the government better utilize taxpayer's money spent on buildings and renovations each year, with all government departments benefiting from good design advice in the early stages. He wants the government to become a best practice client, producing good quality, environmentally sound architecture. There are plans to introduce architecture to schools, with after school homework clubs, funded by the lottery, and Fisher is in favour of national network centres.
