DENMARK: SUCCESS FOR SKANDIABANKEN IN DENMARK

Article Abstract:

Skandiabanken in Denmark is a huge success. Since the opening on May 6, 9000 new customers have joined the new Danish netbank and 50-250 are joining each day. All in all Skandiabanken now has 40.000 customers. Chief executive Henrik Vad says that most customers come from large Danish banks and primarily from the Copenhagen and North Sealand area. If Skandiabanken reaches the goal of 100.000 customers in 2003 the bank plans to increase the number of employees from 55 to 150.

DENMARK: TV-BANKING TO ATTRACT ELDERLY CONSUMERS

Article Abstract:

Several leading banks in the Nordic region are examining the prospects of using TV-banking i.e. digital television to attract consumer groups that are not keen on using Internet banking i.e. elderly consumers. Swedish Foreningssparbanken expects digital TV to become equally important with the Internet for client contacts with the bank. Danske Bank is also examining these prospects whereas Unibank is skeptical.

DENMARK:CHANGING BANKS COSTLY FOR CONSUMERS

Article Abstract:

A report by the Danish Board for Consumer Policies shows that it is costly for consumers to switch from one bank to another - this may cost up to DKr500 (US$60). According to Aktuelt, the system of charging fees for changing banks thwarts competition and should be abolished.
