Deadlock broken
Article Abstract:
Libya has handed over two suspects in the Lockerbie bombing case to be tried on neutral ground in the Netherlands, under Scottish law. The suspects have been charged with the murder of 259 people in an aircraft which exploded over Scotland in 1998, and of 11 people on the ground. A verdict may not be reached for two years, and the court is unlikely to investigate who gave the order, even if the suspects are found guilty. Libyans will also gain little from sanctions being lifted, since other factors, such as low petroleum prices, have hit the Libyan economy.

Visitors from outer space
Article Abstract:
Libyan pilgrims who were allowed to visit Jerusalem by the Israeli government have stirred up bad feelings by calling for the dismemberment of Israel during their visit. Actions by them and other Libyans have alienated Libya from the rest of the Arab countries as well as the West.
