Denmark: IT sector 5% of turn-over

Article Abstract:

According to Statistics Denmark the Danish IT sector represented 5% of the total Danish turn-over in 1999. This can be compared with 20% in Finland and 15% in Sweden. However, if the IT sector is broadened to include IT-service Denmark was at the same level as the other Nordic countries. The figures also show that the IT sector in Denmark had a deficit in the balance of payments. Imports totaled DKr 50bn (US$6.2 bn) while exports totaled DKr39 bn (US$4.7 bn). Sweden and Finland showed great surplus in this area.

DENMARK: AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY EXPORTS DOWN

Article Abstract:

Danish exports of agricultural machinery decreased to about DKr 4.0bn (USD 545mn) in 1999 from DKr 4.6bn in 1998. The trade organisation Foreningen af Danske Landbrugsmaskinfabrikanter expects sales to remain at the same level in 2000. The German market is the most important single market, and it is still affected by weak sales. In eastern Europe, especially Hungary, Poland and the Baltic States, sales are expected to increase.
