Denmark: Tican's conditions for slaughter-house merger
Article Abstract:
Tican, the Danish slaughter-house company, will lay down its conditions for giving its approval to the planned merger between Danish Crown and Steff-Houlberg. Apart from approval by Tican, the merger is also subject to approval by the EU competition authority. Tican MD Ove Thejs says the company will request that authorities will enable a fair commercial competition in the slaughter-house market and make sure that the merged company cannot make use of its political superiority for example in various trade organisations.

Denmark: TiCan to be protected from the mega merger
Article Abstract:
TiCan Slakteri, a Danish slaughter-house, will obtain help from the Competition Authority due to the plans to merge meat giants Danish Crown and Steff-Houlberg. TiCan and the Competition Authority will discuss the matter in order to find out whether it is necessary to further tighten the protection received by TiCan when Vestjyske Slagterier and Danish Crown merged three years ago. Danish Crown and Steff-Houlberg will control more than 90% of the Danish pig slaughter market.

Denmark: TiCan's 2000/2001 results
Article Abstract:
TiCan, the minor Danish slaughter-house, reports a DKr 151mn (USD 18mn) net profit for the fiscal 2000/2001, up from DKr 104mn for the same period in 2000. Turnover increased to DKr 1.7bn from DKr 1.3bn. The increase is attributed to higher prices as well as an 8.7% increase in the number of slaughters to 1,250,000. TiCan pays its suppliers DKr 0.25-0.30 more per kilo than the major slaughter-house Danish Crown.
