Dial-a-counsellor: volunteers talk to troubled women about sex and marriage
Article Abstract:
The services of Peking's National Women's Hotline, China's first hot-line for women in China, are described. Volunteer women answer questions about sex and marriage from mostly female callers. Male callers comprise about 20% of callers. The initial funding of $10,000 came from the California-based non-governmental organization Global Fund for Women. The shortage of volunteers and funds to run the center attests to the changing societal values regarding sex and marriage.
