Domestic appliances, audio visual equipment, chemists' goods

Article Abstract:

Consumer spending in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Belgium is likely to grow only slightly in the first half of 1997. However, more rapid growth may be seen later in 1997 as real incomes rise and new jobs are created. There is also likely to be a rise in consumer spending as a result of the reduction in short-term interest rates in many European countries. The European economy as a whole seems to be improving, with demand for European exports rising and inflation falling. Consumer spending on domestic appliances, audio visual equipment and chemists' goods is detailed.

Article Abstract:

Robert Hartlauer, the managing director of the Austrian electronic and photography trade chain, Hartlauer, estimated a turnover increase of 10% to SFr 2.5bn for 2001. Hartlauer stated that this year's favourite in the Christmas sales turns out to be the digital camera, whereas mobile phone sales dropped in comparison to the Christmas period 2000, and the GPRS mobile phone sales are not thriving either. Further good selling, though, are DVD technology products and MP3 players.
