Domestic appliances in the Netherlands

Article Abstract:

In 1998, Dutch sales of large domestic appliances were valued at NGL1,713 million. Sales of all domestic appliances rose 4% in volume terms to 3.2 million units. Atag and Etna are the country's main producers of domestic appliances, along with Velo, which focuses on twin-tub washing machines, and Philips, which specialises in small domestic appliances. An overview of key trends is given, along with details of foreign trade, consumption trends, advertising, distribution and forecasts for the future.

Domestic appliances and consumer electronics in Germany

Article Abstract:

Domestic appliance production in Germany increased by 1% to about 15.9 billion in 1997, with exports up 12% and imports 6%. Audio visual goods retail sales fell by almost 10%, but good growth in 100 Hz and wide-screen television sets boosted unit values. Telecommunications equipment saw retail sales up 4.9%, but sales of blank audio and video cassettes fell. The introduction of 64-bit consoles has helped the recovery of the market for video games.

Domestic appliances in Spain

Article Abstract:

Spain's revenue from domestic appliances was 605,792 million Spanish pesetas in 1998, with white goods taking 64% of the market. Exports of white goods were worth 11,603 million Spanish pesetas in 1998, up 11% from 1997. The major companies in the sector are Byse-B/S/H Electrodomesticos, Electrolux and Fagor Electrodomesticos.
