EH triggers chaos in conservation

Article Abstract:

English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund starting 5/03 will permit grant financing for conservation efforts solely using architects listed on the Register of Architects Accredited in Building Conservation. The register now has 97 architects who paid a fair amount to join. There also has been criticism that an accreditation test examining successfully finished projects will not include younger architects.

Neighbours from hell

Article Abstract:

The UK's Police Reform Act 2002, which was put in effect at the beginning of 2003, focuses on the threat of nuisance from neighbors. Such organizations as housing associations have the authority to act on antisocial behavior matters, something restricted to local authority and police in the past. Specifics of the antisocial behavior legislation are discussed.
