EU food-safety agency backs products from cloned animals

Article Abstract:

The European Union European Food Safety Authority has declared milk and meat derived from animal clones to be safe for human consumption, but the endorsement must still obtain the approval of the EU's 27 national governments. Politicians, however, are expected to curb the use of cloned-animal products in response to public concerns.

The United States and the European Union are engaged in a dispute over bioengineered food trade. A new labeling regime for genetically engineered foods, such as soybeans, has been designed by the European Union to replace a previous ban on such products.

European Parliament approves new rules on biotech products

Article Abstract:

The European Parliament has approved new legislation that would end the prohibition of new biotechnology foods. The new rules would allow clearly-labelled genetically modified foods.
