EU moves to enforce market rules

European Union regulators have moved to launch litigation against 21 of 25 European countries in violation of European common economic market policy. Cross border acquisitions of large corporations, including energy and telecommunications are being blocked by concern for national interests.

EU's Kroes rejects talk of protectionist battle

European governments have been caught defending their big national companies against cross-border acquisitions. However, European Union antitrust regulator Neelie Kroes does not think there will be a protectionist war and the current economics is the "growing pains" of market unification.
