Eating out for special occasions

Article Abstract:

The UK's eating out sector was worth 20.6 billion pounds sterling in 1999 and is growing at a rate of 4.8% a year. People are now eating out more regularly than in the past because of an improved economy and growth in personal disposable income. The most popular celebratory eating out events are birthdays, followed by family gatherings, anniversaries, Mother's Day and weddings. Most special occasion meals attract an average spend of around 19 pounds sterling a head. Pubs attract some 22% of the total eating out turnover.
