Edge for Northern Rock moves to Branson's Virgin
Article Abstract:
Virgin Group Ltd., headed by UK businessman Richard Branson, now has the advantage in buying British mortgage lender Northern Rock PLC, as rival bidder Olivant Advisers dropped out. The UK government is looking for a buyer for Northern Rock after it loaned the troubled mortgage bank approximately $47 bil when the bank became a victim of the global credit turmoil.
