Election spice

Article Abstract:

Women are making an impression in Indian politics, even if most of them have followed in the wake of husbands or fathers. Sonia Gandhi is campaigning for the Congress Party. Rabri Devi Yadav took over the running of the Rashtriya Janata Dal Party when her husband was put in jail and was well thought of, despite having no previous political experience. Mamata Banerjee has been an outspoken critic of the Congress Party in West Bengal for 13 years and has considerable public support. J. Jayalalitha is a powerful voice in south India.
