Enron trial heats up before it even begins

Article Abstract:

Criminal litigation against former Enron Corp. executives Kenneth L. Lay, Jeffrey Skilling and Richard Causey has seen heated political maneuvrings before the beginning of the trial. The former Chairman, President and Chief Accounting Officer are up on charges of fraud, conspiracy and other crimes at the gas transmission company. The United States Department of Justice is attempting to unseal documents related to the trial while the defense attorneys are opposed.

Burkle v. Follieri offers a window on ugly breakup

Article Abstract:

An investment unit of billionaire investor Ronald W. Burkle's Yucaipa Cos. has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. accusing Italian business partner Raffaello Follieri and his Follieri Group with willful misappropriation of approximately $1.3 mil of the more than $55 mil Yucaipa has invested in the joint venture. The venture was formed to purchase surplus properties of the Catholic Church and redevelop them.

Ebbers is sentenced to 25 Years for $11 billion WorldCom fraud

Bernard J. Ebbers the founder and former Chief Executive Officer of WorldCom Inc. has been sentenced to a 25 year prison sentence for an $11 billion accounting fraud. Mr. Ebbers was convicted of fraud, making false financial statements and conspiracy.
