Enterprise Micro Ready For Launch
Article Abstract:
Enterprise, the United Kingdom home computer company, is ready to have its microcomputer in stores before the end of 1984, although no precise date has been fixed. A series of legal problems and difficulty with the computer chips forced a delay of nearly a year in bringing the product to market. The system is now available with a monitor, a printer, and a joystick. Six software packages are currently ready. Enterprise expects to have several dozen available by the time the computers hit the stores. In spite of doubts among industry experts, Enterprise is hoping for at least a ten percent market share by the end of its first year. A photograph of Enterprise's marketing director, Michael Shirley, is included.

Capital investment appraisal
Article Abstract:
It is vital to begin an appraisal of a planned investment project by comparing the estimated costs and revenues. Traditionally, economists have based this comparison on the 'time value of money,' taking into account the net present value (NPV) of the project over its lifetime. However, this approach is not useful if a company is considering several investment projects and wishes to rank them. Many companies use an alternative appraisal technique based on the payback method, looking at the number of years before estimated revenues from a scheme cover initial capital cost.
