Ericsson net rise aided by Asia

Second-quarter net profit for Sweden's Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson rose by 12% to reach $964.1 mil, due in part to emerging Asian markets, and revenue rose by 6.4%. However, US depositary shares showed a 5.4% drop of $2.25 to reach $39.84.

Sony Ericsson's profit soars as sales jump 15%

Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB of Sweden posted net profit of 144 million Euros ($174.3 million). Sales were up 15 percent to 2.31 billion Euros. Strong earnings were driven by the sales of Walkman music phones.
