Erste Bank's net increases by 19% on loan growth

Erste Bank der Oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG of Austria posted a stellar net profit increase of 19 percent for the second quarter. Net profit revenues rose to 209.1 million Euros ($266.6 million) from 175.4 million Euros last year. Revenues were due to increased market share in Eastern and Central Europe although derivatives and securities trading under-performed.

J.P. Morgan net rises 68 percent on investment banking

J.P. Morgan Chase and Co. of the United States posted stellar net income, up by 68 percent to $4.53 billion in the fourth quarter. Investment banking and corporate trust business has increased, offsetting a decline in retail banking. Net revenue is up 19.1 percent to $16.05 billion.
