Euro zone plans currency defense
Article Abstract:
European Union finance ministers are expected to establish a policy position regarding the strengthening value of the euro against the U.S. dollar in advance of a European visit from U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow and an upcoming international meeting of finance ministers from the countries comprising the "Group of 20." Strong exports have played a significant role in Europe's fragile economic recovery, and with the value of the euro increasing, it is feared that export activity will slow and the European economy will suffer.
