The World Trade Organization is launching its seventh year of Doha trade talks while scrutinizing the Iowa Caucus as an indicator of the potential outcome of the 2008 presidential election in the US. US Republican officials argue that rising protectionism among Democratic candidates may make trade agreements more difficult should they win office.
