Exact computational analysis of waiting-time distributions of single-server bulk-arrival queues: Mx/G/1

Article Abstract:

The waiting-time distribution is successfully derived by studying a set of service-time distributions in terms of characteristic equation (c.eq.) roots. The mixed generalized Erlang, hyperexponential and other distributions are significant in this case since they are useful in approxiamting distributions and are simple analytical properties. Also, their use supports the proposed root-finding approach. The QPACK software package is capable of obtaining the c.eq. roots and of solving for numerical solutions rapidly.

Distribution system planning through a generalized Benders decomposition approach

Article Abstract:

A proposed mathematical formula devised as a solution to the electrical power distribution problem changes the original nonlinear model into its equivalent and completely linear model. The generalized Benders decomposition technique and the ZOOM/XMP software reduces the size of the problem such that the approach is able to accommodate the problem. However, further study on an alternative procedure is recommeneded.
