FRANCE: NESTLE CHOCOLAT SETS UP WEBSITE

Article Abstract:

Nestle Chocolat, the chocolate subsidiary of Nestle Group, food giant, set up a website with the aid of CB'a on line, web design agency, and Smile, a Microsoft Certified Partner, online: 24 October 2000, in time for the Salon du Chocolat, chocolate fair in Paris, France. The cost was FFr 5mn, mostly for labour. There were lots of problems setting up the site, not only with the visible part of the site but also the back-office. Nestle Chocolat was keen to have an independent management system from the rest of the group, and a lot of flexibility. The company has shut down its online sales service for summer 2001 and is working to improve the site for autumn 2001.

FRANCE: GTS OMNICOM CHANGES ITS TARIFF SCHEME

Article Abstract:

Voice, Voice+, Multiconnect (a package combining data, voice, Internet and services), and Single Rate, are the names for the four options available as part of GTS Omnicom's voice offer dedicated to companies. The carrier offers cheaper prices (down 9% in France, down 23% on neighbouring countries in Europe, and in the US) compared to the existing offer, called 5 Entreprises. Instead of the standard x% under France Telecom's prices, GTS Omnicom is implementing a new price system where users may get discounts according to their actual consumption level. Calls are billed by the second, an no time credit is imposed.

FRANCE: WANADOO AND THE UNLIMITED INTERNET ACCESS

Article Abstract:

ADSL is the future of Internet, according to Wanadoo whose Chairman, Nicolas Dufourcq does not believe in the unlimited Internet access priced at FFr 100 a month, as supported by AOL (the only provider to offer an unlimited access worth FFr 199 today) and a number of professionals in France. Such a level of price would not allow for a quality service, according to Dufourcq who points out that France Telecom's network (Wanadoo's parent company) could not face the arrival of too many additional subscribers.
