FRANCE: NEW PRODUCT ON THE INCONTINENCE MARKET

Libra has launched a new female incontinence product, accompanied by a small-screen and press publicity campaign intended to play down the problem. 3.5mn of the French population suffer from some degree of incontinence, the majority of which are women, linked partly to the general ageing of the population. Only 10% use specially adapted products. According to AC Nielsen, the incontinence product market in France accounted for a turnover of FFr 414.8mn in the year ending June 1998 up 11.5% (by volume) from the preceding year. Of the total 135.7mn units that were sold in the given period, 80mn were sold in super- and hypermarkets, and 55.7mn in pharmacies.

Syracuse Langage is introducing Kids Anglais, a new CD-ROM which aims at teaching the basic English vocabulary to children between 5 and 10. The new product, which retails at FFr 199, includes 36 activities split into different themes and levels. Children are very receptive to learning a foreign language between 5 and 10.
