France Quick SA is a fast food restaurant chain operator formed from a joint venture between the Belgian GIB group and the Casino retail group. The company founded Agaquick with Picpain in July 1996, to run new restaurants under the Quick fascia inside Auchan hypermarket premises. France Quick operated 258 sites as of 1996 and is focusing on its franchising strategy with important groups such as Accor and Eris Restaurants as some of its franchisees. The company reported a 51% increase in turnover to 562 million French francs for the period between 1992 and 1996.

Air France, the state-owned French airline, recorded a 19% decline in turnover between 1993 and 1997 as a result of intense price competition in the industry. On a more positive note, the carrier posted an earning at the end of the financial year 1996/97, the first time the company announced a profit since 1989. The turnaround was attributed to a FF20 billion restructuring program that has slashed the carrier's fleet to 141 aircraft. The airline serves 57 cities in 27 European countries and 70 destinations in Africa and the Middle East.
