Fishers: in for the long haul

Article Abstract:

Fish stocks are dwindling in the New England area as a result of mismanagement and years of overfishing. The US Marine Fishery Service has banned groundfish fishery for a period of up to 20 years, endangering the jobs of over 20,000 fishers. Greenpeace activists are supporting this ban and this has led to a conflict between fishers and environmentalists. Efforts to resolve various aspects of the problem in Gloucester, MA, are discussed.
