Excessive menstrual bleeding, or menorrhagia, is normally benign but can also indicate more serious problems including cancer, polyps or uterine fibroids. It can also be due to bleeding disorders such as von Willebrand disease, an inherited disorder which drugs can control.

Issues concerning the causes of painful intercourse in women are discussed, with focus on the dermatological disease lichen planus. Particular attention is given to manifestations and symptoms of the disease and to the psychological devastation it can cause.
