Feeding frenzy

Article Abstract:

It is becoming increasingly widely accepted that micronutrients such as iron, iodine and vitamin A play a key role in keeping people healthy. Many people suffering from malnutrition lack micronutrients, and this can place them in serious danger. Indeed, the World Bank estimates that micronutrient deficiencies cause 20,000 deaths a year for every 50 million people in South Asia. It would be relatively easy to tackle micronutrient deficiencies through inexpensive initiatives such as fortifying bread, sugar, water and rice with micronutrients.
