Design of double CUSUM quality control schemes

Article Abstract:

The combined Shewhart-Cumulative Sum (CUSUM) quality control scheme was extended into a double CUSUM scheme for monitoring out-of-control states in a manufacturing process. The construction of the double CUSUM scheme was achieved by adapting the average run length to those of a set of locally optimal standard CUSUM strategies. This entailed the use of an extrapolation procedure for evaluating the run length distribution of the double CUSUM scheme.

A comparison of SOM neural network and hierarchical clustering methods

Article Abstract:

The performances of a self-organizing map neural network and seven hierarchical clustering techniques were evaluated. Specifically, their accuracies in generating cluster membership for data sets characterized by data dispersion, outliers, unequal cluster densities and irrelevant information were compared. The results demonstrated the superiority, sensitivity and robustness of the neural network approach to cluster analysis of messy data.
