Forget the flattery and consider the defining moment of modernism

Article Abstract:

The Industrial Revolution brought dramatic changes in Britain in a span of 200 years, but the two centuries are not believed to have constituted a 'defining moment'. Article Abstract:

A satirical account is presented of an imaginary architectural institution called Nonsuch University comprising of a long catalog of teachers and departments with comical names, who are trying to enroll students for summer school training. The humorous commentary seems to suggest a hectic and confused concoction of activities in architectural education having no significant value.

Article Abstract:

Wherever huge numbers of anything are concerned, money surely follows and to illustrate this idea, the history is discussed. One such example is of the US purchase of the Mississippi valley up to the Rocky Mountains, an area of 830,000 square miles that was acquired at a cost of only $15 million in 1803 from the Napoleon Bonaparte's France, creating the biggest sale in history.
