French Court Backs Move To Block Coca-Cola Deal

Article Abstract:

The highest administrative court in France upheld a decision by the government to block Coca-Cola's proposed $825 million acquisition of Orangina from Pernod Ricard SA. The French government blocked the acquisition in September, 1998, ruling it to be anticompetitive. Coca-Cola announced the planned acquisition of Orangina in December, 1997. The soft drink company says the deal is not dead.
