SRS CHECKING INTO INDIA

Article Abstract:

SRS World Hotels (SRS) of Germany, a sales, marketing and reservation company plans to foray into the Indian hospitality industry. SRS proposes offer help to Indian hotels to increase occupancies through its 30 sales and marketing outlets in West Asia, Africa, Asia, North, Central and South America. It is currently aiming at independent hotel companies that have no access to international markets. It will also provide advice for maintaining international quality and service. It has decided against tapping five start hotels which have joint ventures with international companies. (ag)

LEELA'S CONVENTION CENTRE PLAN SHELVED

Article Abstract:

Hotel Leela Venture Ltd has dropped its plans to set up a Rs300 crore convention centre at Whitefield near Bangalore. The Karnataka state government says that the company failed to arrange necessary finance for the project. The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board had allotted 62 acres of land to the company in August 1997. Some persons had filed writ petitions in the Karnataka High Court for alleged misappropriation of land meant for the Ashraya scheme. (khr)
