GERMANY: MUSTARD MAKER BORN BOUGHT BY MAUTNER

Article Abstract:

The east German Erfurt-based mustard, ketchup and vinegar producer Born Feinkost GmbH is being acquired by the Austrian food group Mautner Markhof with effect from February 2000. The German company with 45 staff in Erfurt and Bad Langensalza generates an annual turnover of about DM 21.7mn. It was sold by Mr Heinrich Marzahn. Mautner Markhof is to expand the production of mustard and ketchup at the German company.

AUSTRIA: DANNINGER BOUGHT BY NORSK HYDRO

Article Abstract:

The Austrian company Danninger , a leading supplier of aluminium profile systems for building construction, has been taken over by Hydro Building Systems, which is part of the Norsk Hydro group. With 50 staff, Danninger generates an annual turnover of Sch 165mn. Hydro Danninger is to expand product range and raise considerably its 20% market share in Austria.

ITALY: CHR HANSEN ACQUIRES COMPANY

Article Abstract:

Italiana Ingredienti, the Italian producer of flavourings, has been acquired by the Danish group Chr Hansen. Turnover of the Italian company is nearly DKr 100mn (USD 13.5mn). The acquisition is expected to strengthen Chr Hansen's position on the Italian market, as well as facilitate Italiana Ingredienti's future expansion in the "Italian Food" sector on foreign markets.
