GESCO CONTROL PASSES ON TO GENERATION NEXT
Article Abstract:
The day-to-day management of The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd is being passed on to the next generation of the Sheths. Mr Vijay Sheth, executive director in charge of the offshore division and Mr Bharat Sheth, executive director in charge of the shipping division, will be promoted as managing directors with effect from April 1, 1999. Mr Ghanshyam Sheth, executive director of the property division, will also be designated as managing director. Mr KM Sheth, the current chairman and managing director, will relinquish the post of managing director but will continue as chairman of the company. (khr)

SHIPPING CORP RESUMES WORK AT CALCUTTA PORT
Article Abstract:
The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has resumed its activities at the Calcutta port. It had earlier boycotted the Calcutta dock system for over 3 weeks following labour trouble. SCI has commenced its activities after the West Bengal Dock Mazdoor Union gave a written undertaking to co-operate in the loading and unloading of cargo of its vessels at the Calcutta port. (ag)
