Generating interest

Article Abstract:

Architecture associated with electricity generation in France is the subject of an exhibition, 'Architectures de l'Electricite' at the Espace Electra, Paris, France, in 1992. The buildings cover the architecture of the late 19th century through Art Deco and the Modern Movement. Hydro-electric dams and nuclear power stations are also included, although nuclear power does not appear to have inspired good building design. Three architects are featured, Paul Friese and his Romanesque style, G.-H. Pingusson and Pierre Barbe in the Modern style. The exhibition is stylish but selective.
