George Robertson, the new man for NATO
Article Abstract:
George Robertson has been nominated secretary general for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). He is a politician from the United Kingdom Labor Party, and has been pro-European and Atlanticist. His role will be especially important in times of calm, when member governments are less concerned with defense issues. His tasks include representing NATO to the world, and balancing the needs of democracy and defense secrecy. Other challenges include the planned expansion of NATO.

The Clinton administration's $40 billion guarantee for Mexico's liquidity problem should not have to happen. The awkwardness of the International Monetary Fund prevented it from rescuing the peso. An analysis of the problem and the global ramifications is briefly presented.
