Golden chains

Article Abstract:

Global custodians have entered some Asian markets directly, but they frequently decide instead to appoint local sub-custodians. They usually opt for the local branch of their own bank, or for that of another major international bank. Regional banks are seeking appointments as sub-custodial agents but, generally, they do have sufficiently sophisticated systems, and there may be doubts concerning their creditworthiness. Some analysts believe that the sub-custodian network will experience the same sort of consolidation as has occurred in global custody services.
